Description

Abrasive and Fastening Solutions Inc. is a proud manufacturer of ASTM F1554 Grade 55 and 105 All Thread Rod. Using materials made and melted in the United States of America to offer the finest quality bars. F1554 Grade 55 steel bar is a designed strength, low to medium carbon content grade. It has a 55 ksi yield strength which is required by the F1554 specification for anchor bolt and fastener applications. ASTM F1554 grade 105 anchor bolts are manufactured from medium carbon alloy steel that has been quenched and tempered (heat treated) to develop the desired mechanical values. This is the highest strength version of the F1554 specification, with a minimum yield strength of 105 ksi, covering anchor bolts in diameters ranging from 1/2″ through 1-1/2″.

ASTM International is one of the largest voluntary standards developing organizations in the world. They are a not-for-profit organization that provides a forum for the development and publication of international voluntary consensus standards for materials, products, systems and services.

All Thread Rod has a variety of different uses in the construction and industrial industries. All Thread Rod are also known as fully threaded rod, anchor rods, stud anchors, and anchor bolts. The all thread is referring to the fact the entire bar is threaded. Grade 55 and 105 All Thread Rods can be used with a nut tack welded to the bottom end for anchoring purposes. These are commonly to be used as a cast in place anchor. This can be done with grade 105 as well, but you need to follow welding standards in regards to welding an alloy material. Grade 105 is also rated as an ASTM A193 B7. These rods can also be used as a Thru-Bolt for bolting connections. All Thread rods are used quite commonly in the construction industry with two part epoxy systems for anchoring or doweling. These rods can be used with an assortment of different epoxy manufacturers such as Simpson, Hilti, Dewalt by Powers, Red Head, and MKT to name a few.

Our All Thread Rods are made using a roll threading machine. Rolled threads are formed by pressing threading dies into the shank to displace the surplus of the metal outward. The original rod diameter must be slightly less than the nominal diameter, although the root area will still be critical, unless the rod end is upset. The steel is cold-worked, compressing its grain and increasing the yield and tensile strength, generally from 10 to 30 percent. Roll threading is the most productive manner in manufacturing All Thread Rods.

With over twenty years of experience in supplying All Thread Rods to the steel construction industry, we at Abrasive and Fastening Solutions take great pride in providing the highest quality products manufactured in the USA in today’s market. All of our All Thread Rods are made to order and we are especially proud of our ability to meet our customers needs on a daily basis. While we offer an array of different products and configurations, if you don’t see what you are looking for, please call us to discuss and we will do our best to assist you in what you need.

Substituting Grade 36 with Grade 55

Customers should be aware that we do not carry Grade 36 anchor bolts and rods. Instead, when they are asked for, we provide as a substitute Grade 55 anchor bolts. Grade 55 bolts are of a higher quality and feature stronger material. Moreover, they cost the same as the 36 Grade bolts. The fact that they are stronger means that the Grade 55 bolts can more then adequately perform in applications that calls for the use of Grade 36 bolts. The substitution of the Grade 36 bolts are within the guidelines of the ASTM F1554 Anchor Bolt Specification that we are required to follow when producing Anchor bolts and rods.

As all of you are probably aware, the ASTM F1554 Anchor Bolt Specification covers straight and bent headless, carbon steel, stainless steel, and high-strength low alloy steel anchor bolts. According to the specification, anchor bolts are furnished in three strength grades –- 36, 55, and 105. The grades refer to the minimum yield strength of the bolts. Grade 36 is the lowest grade of steel. Grade 105 is the strongest grade. The ASTM Specification permits the substitution of Grade 55 for Grade 36 as long as the grade 55 material meets the S1 supplement requirement of weldability.

Abrasive & Fastening Solutions is supplying the strongest material available at the same price as the lower grade option. We find that manufacturing only Grade 55 and 105 anchor bolts allows us the opportunity to provide to you the best products at the most competitive cost.
